Volunteer of the Month Nomination Form
Through our Volunteer of the Month program, we are only able to recognize 12 of our hundreds of valuable volunteers. Regularly, we will spotlight several volunteers who also deserve recognition. Check out a few below!
Carol House
Volunteer Since: 2009
Roles held: ReStore Assistant, Front Office Support, Construction Committee Member, 2011 Women Build Steering Committee Construction Liaison
About Carol: Carol originally joined the organization as a volunteer in the ReStore before moving into our front office. From there, Carol showed her knowledge of building and planning and soon joined the construction committee, as well as a placement with Bob, our Construction Manager, where she helped in the hunt for land. Carol is always willing to help, even cleaning out the fridge in the staff kitchen!
Overheard: It has been great to see Carol’s positive attitude and warm smile over the past month. She never gives up on her continuous (and arduous) hunt for land and is always coming in with new ideas. She is helpful and enthusiastic and exemplifies the meaning of being a Habitat volunteer.
Lynne Murphy
Volunteer Since: October 2008
Roles held: Front Office Support
About Lynne: No matter if we are busy or not, no matter what the task is, Lynne is always here and reliable. She has faithfully been in the office twice a week since 2008. Her skills are unmeasurable as she spent many years in high-paced office environments.
Overheard: She is always willing to learn new tasks, even if they are challenging, and equally willing to perform the more mundane tasks.
Josee Ottenbrite (Volunteer of the Month: March)
Volunteer Since: Fall 2010
Roles held: Snack baker for Bagot Street site, 2011 Women Build Steering Committee, Chair – Women Build Fundraising Events Committee, Pamper Me Pink Planning Team
About Josee: As Chair of the Women Build Special Events Committee, Josee works with a very large and diverse group of volunteers. Keeping energy high, Josee is adept at keeping all of the loose ends together. We take it as an honour that Josee shares so much of her personal and business time to ensure that the Special Events, and Women Build as a whole, succeed in 2011.
